Redistributing the Toner
When toner is low, faded or light areas
may appear on a printed page. You may
be able to temporarily improve print
quality by redistributing the toner. The
following procedure may allow you to
finish the current print job before
replacing the toner cartridge.
1
Open the top cover.
2
Remove the toner cartridge from
the printer.
WARNING!
Avoid reaching too far into the printer.
The adjacent fusing area may be hot!
CAUTION
To prevent damage, do not expose the
toner cartridge to light for more than a
few minutes.
3
Rotate the toner cartridge and
gently shake from side to side to
redistribute the toner. (Do not tip the
cartridge on end, or it might leak.)
CAUTION
If toner gets on your clothing or hands,
wipe it off with a dry cloth and wash
clothing in cold water. (Hot water sets
toner into fabric.)
